Sativa or Indica? It is one of the questions we are frequently asked. Although Sativa and Indica belong to the same cannabis family, the strains exhibit different growth characteristics and (medicinal) effects.
On the cannabis spectrum, we can specify numerous strains with varying effects. Nevertheless, the difference between Indica and Sativa is generally compared to being stoned or high. Where Indicas cause a body-oriented stone, a Sativa provides an energetic and cognitive high. Although there is no scientific evidence for this, we experience this as very clear in the cannabis community.
What are the physical differences between Indica and Sativa? The biggest differences between Sativa and Indica can be recognized by the plant itself. Indicas have a short, conical shape with broad leaves. An Indica generally grows faster and often has a larger yield than a Sativa plant. The plant is found in areas with a colder climate. The final product of the Indica plant usually has a high CBD and low THC content.
The Sativa plant is taller and spindly branched with narrow leaves. Compared to Indicas, a Sativa often takes longer to flower. Geographically, the plant is more common in areas with long summers and a warmer climate. Unlike Indica, the final product of the Sativa plant has a lower CBD and higher THC content.
What are the effects of Indica and Sativa? Do you need deep relaxation? Then Indicas are the perfect choice. Medicinal Indica strains are often used to calm the body and mind. Nausea and acute pain can also be effectively treated with Indica varieties. Due to its relaxing effect, an Indica can make you quite sleepy. We therefore recommend using strains of this type in the evening.
Could you use a bit of a feeling of happiness? Try a Sativa strain. These strains stimulate the production of serotonin. This strengthens your focus and creativity and also gives you an excellent mood. Sativas work particularly well for people with anxiety, depression, or chronic pain. Due to the uplifting effect, it is best to use a Sativa strain during the day.
