La Banana is generally regarded as a hybrid leaning towards the indica side, featuring banana aromas over a classic kush base. The name points towards Los Angeles, where these kinds of dessert-like varieties have long been popular. The exact lineage varies by grower, but in most cases, it involves a cross between an OG or kush line and a banana variety such as Banana OG, Banana Kush, or Banana Punch. This immediately explains the dual impression the strain leaves: sweet and creamy on the surface, somewhat heavier and more gassy underneath. It is a variety you encounter more often with growers who select for flavor.

The buds are dense and compact, with a distinct kush structure. You often see a deep green color with some lighter spots here and there and a generous amount of orange hairs. The resin layer is thick enough to make the flowers quite sticky, which does not always make grinding by hand easy. With a well-dried and aged batch, the aroma emerges even before you have properly opened the jar. That is usually a good sign of how carefully it has been post-dried. In terms of scent, ripe banana is the most recognizable, along with something creamy reminiscent of vanilla. There is also a tropical and slightly citrusy layer that keeps the whole thing fresh. The taste follows that line, but in the finish, the Kush heritage comes to the fore with an earthy, slightly fuel-like tone. As a result, it doesn't remain just candy-sweet and the strain retains some depth. Myrcene and limonene are the terpenes usually responsible for these kinds of banana profiles.
